Neha & Rohan’s wedding was my first wedding photographed at Dapoli. To be truthful I jumped on the idea of covering their wedding just by read the venue itself. Rohan & I’d spoken a few times infact I was to cover their engagement ceremony as well but due few factors that didn’t happen. The moment their dates were confirmed Rohan & I started discussing over the wedding details.
It was a two day maharashtrian wedding affair followed reception in Pune. The wedding was held at Phadke karayala a very old name in Dapoli with one of the tastiest food I’ve ever had! I was welcomed as family more than just a photographer. The wedding morning I reached early at Neha’s while she was getting ready. A beautiful kokan house with “wadi” all around. I was greeted by a winter morning fog and hot cup tea. We took photos in her wadi. It was a mesmerizing feeling to be in that environment. Many rituals in Maharashtrian weddings in the cities are overlooked or aren’t explained in detailed for reasons unknown but here I could experience it first hand like Rukhwat, groom’s entry under banana planktain and others which are small but have a lot of significane in the wedding.
Having met Rohan & Neha for their pre-wedding I wasn’t worried how they would react to the camera or would they shy away. I was extremely happy to see a couple who made sure to have fun, enjoy every moment of the day and cherish every experience. It was a emotional good byes as Neha bid farewell but I was happy to see her smile in the end.
A big thank you to Neha & Rohan for having me over and letting me cover their biggest day. A special shout out to their families for welcoming me with open arms. It’s amazing to be connected with many of them even today as and when we get time.
