Jessica & Purujit’s Maharastrian Wada Wedding in Pune

I’ve always dreamed of capturing a wedding in the heart of Pune, especially in one of its historic “wadas”—those enduring structures that have witnessed the city’s evolution while holding onto tales from a bygone era. When Purujit and Jessica chose his home on Tilak Road as their wedding venue, I was beyond thrilled. Their house, with its sturdy wooden beams and the soft light filtering through narrow windows into the courtyard, seemed to stand as a silent witness to the bustling city outside. When Purva, Purujit’s sister, asked me to photograph their wedding, I eagerly said yes.

Having already visited their home and met the family during Purva and Pushkar’s engagement, the thought of capturing this wedding filled me with excitement. The warmth of their family, combined with the charm of the “wada,” promised an experience far more delightful than even the best pizzas and espressos! 😄 (which are my favorites)

A few days before the wedding, we gathered for a fun family wedding shoot around the “wada.” Purujit’s parents, Purva, and Pushkar all joined in, adding layers of joy and laughter to the session. Every corner, every nook of that house seemed to hold a story, and we made sure to capture as many as we could. We laughed, sipped tea, and created memories that would last a lifetime.

On the wedding day, Purujit and Jessica shone as a couple deeply in love. The entire event was an authentic Maharashtrian ceremony, where Jessica’s family, guided by Purujit’s translations, embraced every ritual with grace and enthusiasm. The day was filled with heartfelt laughter, emotional highs, and tender tears, as family members showered the newlyweds with flowers—and even each other! The alleyway baraat was an incredible highlight, adding a unique charm to the celebration.

The following day, the couple hosted an intimate surrounded by family and friends. Jessica, ever so graceful, chose to wear a traditional saree for the entire event, embracing the cultural essence of the moment. It was a simple yet wonderful choice, reflecting her deep connection to the family and their traditions.

Over time, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Jessica and Purujit at various events, and soon, I’ll be sharing photos from Purva’s wedding as well. I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have been welcomed into their lives, creating a treasure trove of happy memories that I’ll cherish forever.
