If you’ve seen Vedali & Deven’s pre-wedding shoot, you already know their wedding would be a blast! If you haven’t yet pause here and watch it and I guarantee you’ll be grinning by the end.
Their two-day Maharashtrian celebration kicked off at Swapnapurti Hall near MIT, Pune—an unpretentious venue with its own little temple, tasty food served and lot of banana leaves for photos (yes, we carried that cheeky leaf theme forward!), and plenty of room to laugh, dance, and soak up every moment.
Day One began with a heartfelt simant poojan, then exploded into a sangeet showdown. Picture Deven’s friends belting out cheesy Marathi numbers while donning bras and then crowning him with those very bras as a garland. The dance floor was pure fun in the best way possible. Everyone from youngsters to grandparents joined in, cheeks aching from laughter.
On the big day, Vedali and Deven’s portraits banana leaves and all :D set the tone for the rituals that followed. They smiled through every step, whether it was rituals, vows or playful traditions. One of my favorite moments was when Vedali’s brother pinched Deven’s ear to warn him to take care of his sister—and then, of course, Dhruva (remember him from the pre-wedding shoot?) couldn’t resist giving Vedali an earful too!
We wrapped up under a skyful of smiles as Vedali waved a happy goodbye to her family. A proof that weddings don’t have to be solemn affairs. Plan well, but above all, have fun. Be like Vedali & Deven. Keep smiling and soak in every moment.
A huge thank you to these two and their warm, gracious families. We have become lifelong friends (they even call me saheb (no clue why :D) fondly when we chat or randomly cross paths.
